OHIP & Insurance to Cover Your Eye Care Needs

OHIP covers one major eye exam every year for patients 19 and under and 65 and over. OHIP will also cover annual comprehensive eye exams and follow-up appointments for those between 20 and 64 with a health condition that puts their ocular health at risk. These conditions include:

Diabetes
Heart disease
Glaucoma
Cataracts
Retinal or corneal disease
Amblyopia
Strabismus
And more

Your eye exam may also be covered by OHIP if your physician specifically requested it. For these appointments, you will require a referral.

Every insurance plan is different, so it’s a good idea to know what your plan covers before booking your appointment. Many plans will cover partial costs of comprehensive eye exams every 2 years, as well as a certain amount for glasses and/or contact lenses.

Where to Find Us

You can find us on St. Andrew Street West nestled in Fergus’s historic downtown. Our office has a small step at the front door, but we are happy to assist our patients who use assistive mobility devices to enter our office safely.

Free parking is available on St. Andrew Street West (3 hours), as well as in the parking lot behind our office, as well as in the municipal lot at Provost Lane and St. Patrick Street.
